We WANT original stories and plots that step outside ordinary ideas of good and evil and that draw on cultures and mythos outside of the Judeo-Christian traditions. DarkHart Press looks for strong, concise, well-written fiction that is unique, original,surprising and unexpected.

For another tall order, we want books that have both dynamic, riveting characters and a plot that keeps you breathlessly turning the pages right up until the end. What we are saying is, "Entertain us—we like being scared, love absurd humor and strange situations. Move the plot and the characters along, pretty please?!"

This is the start our third year in business and we are very pleased to announce that one of our original novels, The Gentling Box by Lisa Mannetti, won the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel. Our hearty congratulations to Lisa: it is a truly amazing book and our thanks also to  the Horror Writers of America (HWA) and its membership for recognizing her work.
